The Physical Activity and Health of Children and Adolescents

The Physical Activity and Health of Children and Adolescents theme brings together evidence-based knowledge, experts, and developers to promote physically active lifestyles and well-being among children and young people in Southwest Finland.

The aim of the theme is to strengthen physically active lifestyles among children and young people and to promote health through research-based knowledge, multidisciplinary expertise, and close collaboration.

The objective is to build a multidisciplinary, active, and impactful regional network of experts and researchers in the field of physical activity and health of children and young people across Southwest Finland. The theme seeks to bring people together around a shared focus and to foster the development of research projects and other forms of collaboration.

At the core of the theme is research-based knowledge and its application in practical solutions, service development, and the initiation of joint research and development projects.

The theme promotes interaction between different stakeholders, sharing knowledge, and creation of new collaborations. The network identifies current needs and development priorities related to the physical activity and health of children and young people and supports multidisciplinary research initiatives linked to local, national, and international funding opportunities.

Actions:

-Identify and contact experts and researchers relevant to the theme

-Facilitate networking and interaction among members through various events

-Build a shared communication and collaboration platform for the network

-Support and enable the development of new multidisciplinary research projects and collaborations related to the theme

-Share information on funding opportunities relevant to the theme

-Assist in building project consortia and identifying suitable experts or researchers

-Enable regular communication, for example through a newsletter

-Identify needs and gaps related to the physical activity and health of children and young people

-Produce research-based statements, reports, and summaries to support decision-making and development work

The activities of the theme are implemented through events, expert meetings, research initiatives, and the collection and dissemination of information related to the physical activity and health of children and young people.
