University of Turku
Research at the University of Turku is multidisciplinary and international. The bioscience success stories are born out of strong research in the fields of cancer research, molecular biosciences, and cardiovascular and metabolic diseases research. At the Faculty of Medicine, clinical and basic research are seamlessly combined bringing new results from research laboratories and clinical studies to patient treatment. The host defence and autoimmune disease research is internationally at the top of the field, as is the development of diagnostics and imaging methods.
Åbo Akademi
Research at Åbo Akademi is multifaceted and interdisciplinary. In co-operation with the University of Turku, we have established a joint focal area in drug development and diagnostics. One of Åbo Akademi University’s most important research areas is biomedical imaging. Other key areas include drug pre-formulation and diagnostics, with a focus on cancer, organic chemistry and biochemistry, structural bioinformatics, cellular and molecular biology and materials research.
